What this extension is

Toolbar Feedback is an internal-use Chrome extension used by a small engineering team to capture visual feedback on internal web applications. It is distributed via the Chrome Web Store as an unlisted item and is not intended for general public use.

What we collect

When you submit feedback through the widget, the following is sent to the operator’s dashboard and stored:

• The text of your feedback comment.
• A screenshot of the visible browser viewport at the moment of submission.
• The URL of the page you submitted from, the CSS selector of the element you pinned, and the pin’s coordinates on the page.
• Your browser’s user-agent string (used for triage; e.g. so the operator knows which browser a bug was reported in).
• The name and (optional) email associated with the credentials you pasted into the extension’s settings.

We do not collect or transmit anything from pages where the widget is not actively mounted (i.e. domains that aren’t in your credential’s allow-list).

What we store locally in your browser

The extension uses Chrome’s synced storage (chrome.storage.sync) to remember:

• Your key ID and key secret (entered in the options page).
• The list of allowed domains for your key (refreshed every 30 minutes from the operator’s dashboard).
• Your on/off toggle preference.

Clearing the extension’s credentials (via the “Clear credentials” button in options) removes all of this immediately.

Where data lives

Submitted feedback and screenshots are stored in a Supabase project controlled by the operator. The extension itself does not transmit data to any third party other than the operator’s intake API at toolbar.barlavie.dev.

No tracking, no analytics

The extension does not run analytics, ad networks, or third-party telemetry. It only contacts the operator’s intake API and only when you actively submit feedback or when the background worker refreshes the allowed-domain list.
